Ah the time has come for this amazing rodeo to make its debut. The “Daddy of them All”, the most coveted buckle amongst rodeo contestants, the one the only, Cheyenne Frontier Days or CFD. Why is this rodeo so special you may ask, well it is the largest outdoor rodeo in the world! A lot of Rodeo’s greatest cowboys and cowgirls have rode in this historical arena and made history on these rodeo grounds. You will find this rodeo coming to town towards the end of July and it runs for 10 consecutive days. There is so much to do at CFD. Not only is there a carnival and shopping, but after every rodeo performance is a concert in the middle of the arena. You will see all sorts of people here at this coveted rodeo. You need to go, but what do you wear? Well I got you! Here is a short Fashion Guide for CFD!

1. It’s all about the fringe

You read that right. Fringe, this iconic staple from the 60’s & 70’s is making its comeback and she is coming in strong. You see fringe on almost every aspect of clothing from jackets, shirts, and even shorts. If you want to add a little fringe to your wardrobe, throw on a fringe jacket or even some fringe just on your front pockets of your jean shorts. You can make a statement that way. 2. Denim on Denim

Denim has always been big in the western industry, but now its even bigger. You have a 90’s nostalgia of denim on denim. Pair jeans with a denim shirt and dress it up with a wild rag, or even go full denim on denim with a jumpsuit. My personal favorite one is from Wrangler. If you don’t have a denim shirt, you can always do a denim jacket with your jeans. Since this rodeo is in July, you can wear a light colored t-shirt under it or even a tank top. You can style denim on denim various ways. You can do different shades of denim or even add a pop of color from an undershirt or a wild rag.

3. Sequins

Ah the super sparkly glittery little circles that make the sun bounce off them. Sequins, they are coming in full force this year and not just at the NFR (National Finals Rodeo). You will see some girls wearing sequin skirts, pants, or even shirts. There will be some form of sequins in the wardrobe. If you want to add a little sparkle to your fit, you can wear a shirt that has some sequins on it. The right color of sequins will help you stand out the best. If you are a winters color type, go for the cool colors of blues or silvers. If you’re a spring, summer or fall type, the warmer colors of gold or even rose gold will work best. 

4. Turquoise Jewelry

This staple piece will never be outdated or go away. Turquoise is the new diamonds. You can dress up any fit with a squash, naja, or a lariat. Whether it is authentic or fashion, a turquoise jewelry piece can make any outfit come together perfectly. You can wear this jewelry dressed down with jeans and a graphic tee, or dressed up with a blazer set. There are many different types of styles of turquoise jewelry. You can add flair with a turquoise cuff. Make statements with bold rings. Add a big statement with a squash or any type of statement piece necklace. If you want subtle but just a pop of turquoise, you can wear a pair of cluster earrings or even half clusters. Adding any of these to your outfit will compliment it in its entirety. 

5. Coastal Cowgirl Style

You can thank TikTok for this style going viral. The “Coastal Cowgirl” style is going to be making its debut as the go to style of the Summer and go into the Fall. This style features breathable light fabric dresses, light cable knit sweaters, shorts, spaghetti strap tank tops, and of course your boots or even strapped sandals. What makes this “cowgirl” is the jewelry you place with it and a straw cowboy hat. You’ll most likely see turquoise jewelry or Navajo pearls in the mix of this style. You can do this style at CFD. It doesn’t have to be on the beach for it to be “coastal cowgirl style”. It is another form of a boho, laidback western style.  A lot of this style has been seen on various other influencers and celebrities. You can see many videos on TikTok representing this style.

Whatever you choose to wear, it will be amazing no matter what. As long as you express yourself and feel confident in your outfit, then that is all that truly matters. This guide is simply to help you know what “trends” are happening and what you will most likely see at the rodeo. I have seen so many different styles than the ones I listed. This area of fashion is so versatile, that anyone can have their own niche. Find the one that you feel the most confident in and rock that outfit honey.
