So you want to be a Western Influencer? The big question now is where do I start, or how do I do this? Well luckily for you, I created a guide to help you get started. Western Influencers have made a name for themselves in promoting and marketing the western industry. However, there are those that have tarnished the name and caused some problems along the way. There are people who are “pretending” to be legitimate only to scam brands. There is a positive way to approach being an influencer.
This is my guide to the Western Influencer.
Working with brands can be a great way to grow your audience, promote your work, and make some extra money. However, it’s important to do it the right way. If you reach out to a brand in a sloppy or unprofessional way, you’re likely to get ignored.
Research First; Collaboration Second.
The first step is to find brands that are a good fit for you and your audience. You want to work with brands that you’re passionate about and that your audience would be interested in.
There are a few ways to find the right brands. You can:
- Look for brands that you already follow and interact with on social media.
- Search for brands in your niche on Google.
- Be a customer or follower first. This is one of the most important things you can do. Brands are more likely to work with influencers who are already fans of their products or services. So, before you reach out to a brand, make sure you’re actually using their products and following them on social media.
- Do your research. – Before you reach out to a brand, make sure you know a little bit about them. What are their products or services? Who is their target audience? What are their marketing goals?
The more you know about the brand, the better equipped you’ll be to pitch them a collaboration that’s a good fit for both of you.
Time to Send that Email.
When you’re ready to reach out to a brand, you need to write a compelling pitch. This should include:
- A brief introduction about yourself and your work.
- Why you’re a good fit for the brand.
- What you can offer the brand in terms of reach, engagement, and content creation.
- A specific proposal for a collaboration.
Your pitch should be clear, concise, and persuasive. It should also be tailored to the specific brand you’re reaching out to.
Additionally, keep in mind the following things when communicating with a brand.
- Be genuine. When you’re reaching out to a brand, be genuine about your interest in working with them. Don’t just send a generic email or DM asking for free stuff. Show the brand that you’re genuinely interested in their products or services and that you think you could create great content that would resonate with their audience. Never EVER ask for free product. This is considered rude to small business owners. If that is all you want from them, chances are you are not a good fit and will not land the collaboration.
• Be professional. Even if you’re just starting out, it’s important to be professional when you’re reaching out to brands. This means using proper grammar and spelling, and being respectful of their time.
• Be patient. It can take time to land a collaboration with a brand. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t hear back right away. Keep reaching out to brands and eventually you’ll find one that’s a good fit for you.
• Be specific. When you’re reaching out to a brand, be specific about what you’re looking for. Are you interested in a sponsored post? A product review? A giveaway? The more specific you are, the easier it will be for the brand to understand what you’re offering and whether or not it’s a good fit for them.
• Be flexible. Brands are often looking for influencers who are willing to be flexible. This means being open to different types of collaborations and being willing to work with the brand’s marketing team to create content that meets their goals.
Patience is a Virtue.
After you’ve sent your pitch, it’s important to follow up. This doesn’t mean sending multiple emails or DMs. However, it’s a good idea to send a brief thank-you note and let the brand know that you’re still interested in working with them.
If you don’t hear back from the brand, you can send a follow-up email a few weeks later. However, if you still don’t hear back, it’s time to move on.
So now what?
